DRUG-RELATED OFFENSES

Drug-related crimes vary greatly in severity, depending upon the drug involved and the charge assessed. Law enforcement and state officials have a very low tolerance for drug-related offenses and will work diligently to prosecute these charges. Penalties for seemingly minor offenses are becoming increasingly punitive. A first offense of possession is a misdemeanor punishable with up to 6 months incarceration and a fine of $500. A second offense is a felony punishable with up to 5 years incarceration and a $2,000 fine. A third offense is also a felony punishable with up to 20 years incarceration and a $5,000 fine. A felony charge will remain on your record and significantly impact your future. A person charged with possession with the intent to distribute can face significantly greater penalties. Laura Davenport will represent you and provide defense for a variety of drug-related offenses related to any controlled substance, including possession, possession of paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute, cultivation, manufacturing and trafficking.

Penalties vary depending upon the substance with which you are charged, the quantity of the drug found in your possession, and your prior criminal history. Laura Davenport will review the charges, ensure that the prosecutor has sufficient evidence, determine whether that evidence was gained legally and gather evidence to provide the strongest defense. She will exert tireless effort to minimize the consequences of any charges you face.
